The Milford Road

13m Documentary 2021

Behind the beauty and awe of the Milford Road is a team that operates year-round to keep the lifeline between Milford Sound and Te Anau open and safe for travel.

Traversing the remote and wildly rugged terrain of Fiordland, the 119km stretch of State Highway 94 has many hazards and dangers to manage. Remoteness, extremely volatile weather, rockfall hazard, and immensely powerful avalanches are just some of the challenges that make it one of the world’s most unique roading programmes.

The Milford Road is a Finalist for the 2022 Student Short Documentary Competition by NZ Broadcasting School student, Cole Yeoman.
